I would like to share with you some info that I think is valuable.  My Friend, Diane of from blank pages, is a clever, creative, compassionate and community minded kinda gal.  She has established quite a few different ‘programmes’ of participation and I would like to pass them on to you for your consideration (or not!).

Quilting for a Cause

Diane has started a Flickr group to connect those with a ’cause to quilt for’ and those who would love to ‘quilt for a cause’.  Diane says:

I have come to realize that the most satisfying quilting is sewing for someone in need. I hope this will become a successful group and that with everyone’s help we can help a lot of people that could use some comfort in their lives.

If you are making a quilt for someone and would like some help with the blocks, please start a new discussion!  It’s also great to know any bit of the story of the people the quilt is for. Share whatever you’d like, but you don’t have to if it’s too personal.

If you would like to sew quilt blocks for others, please leave a comment in their thread and let them know. You can ask questions in the discussion thread so others can see the answer who might have the same question. Addresses can be exchanged by preference of the quilter.

I figure this will be a good place to find people in need of help, as well as those willing to help. I am only one person, so I hope that you will help me recruit people to join who you think might be interested.

Master List of Linky Parties
For those  of you who are unfamiliar with linky parties let me explain.  A linky party is hosted by a specific blog and other bloggers link up a particular blog post (with a photo) they have written (via software provided by the host).  All ‘linkers’ and other ‘viewers’ are then able to click over to a post that has caught their attention.  A linky party is a great way for us to see and be seen and to learn what others are doing out there in blogland.  I greatly appreciate those bloggers who host these linky parties as it seems to me that quite a bit of work goes into it.
Now there are many, many, many linky parties out there run on everyday of the week and it becomes quite a skill in itself just to keep track of them.  So, with that in mind, Diane has established a Master List of Linky Parties to help us keep linking up.
So, if you are a host of a linky party (and I know some of you are followers of mine so I will be checking!!!), I urge you to please list your linky party on this Master List and if you would like to link up your blog posts go and check out all the linky parties added thus far.

Diane says:

Do you know what I’ve been thinking about lately? lots, and I mean LOTS, of blank pages that I’ve filled but have never turned into anything but a filled page….I’m afraid my ideas always seem to be way more numerous than the amount of time I have to work on them. Then I started wondering about everyone else. What have you put on YOUR blank pages??? I think sometimes it’s just inspiration we find, on Pinterest perhaps? Or maybe you have an idea that’s been floating around in your head for years, but you’ve never had the courage to jot it down and simply start putting it together. A beautiful stack of fabrics by chance? Maybe a flower in your backyard? I don’t know that I could ever limit the amount of things that inspire me.

I decided that it would be fun, or at least I would have so much fun making a linky party for everyone’s blank pages! 🙂 I know there are already so many link up’s for works in progress, and finished items, UFO items, and everything in between, but this is a “BEGINNING” linking party! If it’s a secret, show some sneak peeks! Or maybe a stack of fabric that you are still contemplating a project for. There are so many things that inspire us to create, and I think we often share the process or the finish of it, but why not celebrate the beginning.

So a new linky party for ‘the beginning of a project’ has been birthed!!  Link ups start on thursdays and close on sundays.  Find out more here.

 Group Pinterest Tutorial Boards
Diane started some Pinterest boards to gather together various tutorials that those generous souls in blogland haver written for our benefit. A few others (myself included) have ‘pinning permission’ for these boards and are helping to build them up as a wonderful go to resource and repository of knowledge.  If you have any tutorials you have written and would like to have them included please let me know (by email – see ‘Contact Me’ above – or by leaving a comment below).  We always pin directly from the tutors blog so proper credit is given to those whose hard work we are collating.  I also usually get the material for my Fun Friday Freebies from these boards.
  One Stop Giveaway Shop
Always wondered how you missed that giveaway or didn’t know it was on, but boy it was the one for you? Well, so did Diane.  That is why, together with Rachael from imagine gnats, Diane started the One Stop Giveaway Shop.  This is a site that brings together those who have stuff to give away and those who love to win stuff.  You can follow along by email or in various other ways and even ‘like’ the facebook fan page so you never miss out again!! and if you have a giveaway going make sure to list it by completing this form to increase your participants.
So, do we agree?  Isn’t Diane a clever, creative, compassionate and community minded kinda gal?  I hope you are able to increase your enjoyment and utilisation of blogland through the use of all these wonderful resourses and that I will ‘run into you’ in one of these various locations.

Until next time, happy quilting, knitting, sewing, crafting ….
