It has been quite a while since my last post.  You could very well think that sewing hasn’t been on my radar and to do list.  Well, let me tell you I have been sewing and crafting my butt off!!

Those who have been following me for a little bit know that I am a contracted designer for Handmade Australia Magazine.  In the last month I have been hard at work producing a knitwear, a crochet and two quilting projects for them.  Phew!

And…… to top that off there is a new sewing magazine about to be launched in Australia, Love Sewing Australia.

 Cover for Issue 1

This new bi-monthly magazine hits the shelves in April.  Each issue is jam-packed with all the very best fabric and sewing inspiration for fast and fabulous makes, gorgeous home décor projects, the latest colour and pattern trends, simple and stylish dressmaking, adorable children’s designs, and contemporary and fresh patchwork and quilting. There’s also loads of encouragement, tips and motivation to spur on your creativity and skills and easy-to-follow instructions and step-by-step guides.

Plus, each issue comes with a free bonus crafty gift! Issue 1 has a gorgeous patchwork-inspired notebook – just the thing for to-do lists and sewing ideas.

I have been asked to contribute dressmaking and clothes customisation projects to the magazine so I have been busily completing my first submission for them.

And ……. because magazines have many months of lead time before publication and so you don’t spoil the surprise it all has to be Secret Sewing! So, no sharing!

And no sewing for my winter wardrobe as yet. Boo hoo – I have garments just waiting to burst from my mind to the fabric!

I have also been preparing for two great events I will be participating in :

1.     The grand opening of a new fabric store and crafting community in my home town of Ballarat, Victoria.  Named Cotton Factory it officially opens its doors this friday (14th March). Later in the year I will be teaching sewing and pattern drafting here – very exciting.  They are also stocking my quilt and bag patterns and the samples adorn the walls! Makes me very important. Lol!

Here are the opening details for those who are able and willing to attend.

2.     This saturday (15 March) I am attending a ‘teachers demonstration’ event at a store in Melbourne.  All those who teach there, which includes yours truly, will be on hand to demonstrate their skills and answer questions about their area of expertise – garment sewing and pattern drafting for me.  I will also be demonstrating the Pattern Drafter Ruler. Others will be talking knitting, crocheting, tapestry and general sewing.

The details are as follows:    Venue:      Morris & Sons
                                                           Level 1, 234 Collins Street
                                                             (btwn Elizabeth and Swanston Strs)
                                                           Melbourne
                                           Time:        10am – 4pm

It would be lovely to say hi should you decide to pop in to have a look.

So, all in all my sewing machine is burning through thread, the printer is slurping down ink and my brain is tearing through cells!!

Until next time, happy sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting and crafting ….
