The Pattern Drafter

I am a retailer. Can I purchase The Pattern Drafter wholesale?

Yes.  However, we would require a minimum purchase quantity of five and proof that you are a retailer – bricks and mortar or online.

What clothing size range does The Pattern Drafter cover?

The Pattern Drafter Ruler covers design for a large clothing size range – from ladies size 6 – 30 Australian.  In fact, many of our customers buy the ruler to use in garment design or boutique clothing manufacture businesses.  The Ruler can be used to draft block patterns for many different size clients and, because the block sizing is so accurate, the number of fittings required is dramatically reduced and lowers the time needed to be spent with each client significantly.

How do I clean my Ruler?

The ruler is very hardy.  The markings are designed to be very hard wearing and will not rub off with general wear and tear.  If the ruler gets dirty, the best way to clean it is with normal soap and water. Do not use harsh cleaning chemicals.

Can the Ruler and the Instruction Book be sold separately?

Unfortunately, no.  They are produced to complement each other and are sold as a packaged set.

Can I get a refund?

We protectively package the Ruler very thoroughly when we mail it. However, if it is dmamaged during postage, please take a photo of the damage, email it to us and we will replace the Ruler for you.

If you have had a change of heart and have changed your mind, unfortunately we cannot issue you a refund. The Pattern  Drafter Ruler can be used to produce your blocks and then returned – unethically using our product without paying for the priviledge. While we realise that most folks are good and honest, sadly some are not. We trust that good and honest folks will appreciate our position on this.

Garment Designs

What are your garment designs? Are they like commerical patterns?

Our garment designs are not like commercial patterns.  They contain no tissue paper pattern pieces nor do they have a multitude of varying sizes. Our garment designs contain instructions for altering and adapting your  individually fitted block patterns (sometimes called slopers) to make the garment shown.  They contain detailed instructions on pattern cutting and sewing processes and techniques required to construct and complete the garment.  The instructions are extensively supported by procedural photographs and often short videos of particular processes.

Do I need to own The Pattern Drafter Ruler to be able to use the Garment Designs?

No.  All the garment designs start with your individually fitted block patterns.  While The Pattern Drafter is a quick, simple and easy way to produce your block patterns, there are certainly other ways.  All the garment designs require to be able to use them is a block pattern relevant to the particular garment design.

What format are the Garment Designs in?

The Garment Designs are all in pdf format.  This is by far the easiest, cheapest and most environmentally friendly way to produce a good product that can be used by anyone with a computer – including a mobile/tablet device. You only need a pdf reader, such as Adobe Reader, to be able to use our Garment Designs. Adobe Reader can be downloaded here for free.

Can I use the Garment Designs to make garments to sell?

All our Garment Designs are covered by copyright.  However, we are more than happy to discuss each individual situation and proposal.

Are you covered by insurance?

Yes.  In the unlikely event that an accident occurs we are covered by liability insurance.

Can I design my own class content?

Yes.  Sometimes the existing class content does not suit your requirements or may not be appropriate for your retail situation or small group.  We are more than happy to discuss your individual needs and can tailor make class content to fit your needs.  Please contact us to discuss this further.

Can I bring my children to classes?

This is a tricky one! If a class is being held in a retail situation, it would be at the discretion of the shop owner to make this decision.  However, if you are having a small group class or private tuition in a private establishment we are certainly open to the possibility for children to attend.

How much do classes cost and what happens if I cancel?

Class fees are affected by many factors – retail, private or small group, travel, length and content.  Usually retailers will set their own class fees and cancellation policies.  However, for private tuition and small groups fees are charged to reflect each situation.  As is the cancellation policy.  Therefore, it is best to contact us and, after discussion about what you require, class fees will be advised.

Are your patterns a physical product that will be mailed to me?

All our patterns are only available as pdf files.  This is by far the easiest, cheapest and most environmentally friendly way to produce a good product that can be used by anyone with a computer – including a mobile/tablet device. I have lost my pdf pattern. Can I download it again without having to re-buy it?

When you purchase a pattern you are able to download it to your computer twice.  Any additional downloads will require you to re-purchase the product.  However, if the pattern/tutorial was available as ‘free’ and no payment was required it maybe downloaded as many times as required.

Can I sell finished products made from your patterns?

As we don’t sell finished products we would be thrilled if you wanted to sell items you produce from using our patterns. However, it would be much appreciated if you would advise your customers who designed the pattern. Please don’t, however, sell the patterns themselves as they are covered by copyright.
